Gorgeous Girl has been asking to go to school since the middle of December last year. Now that we have a car she was finally able to start.

and wearing her hat.

I was very nervous about driving Gorgeous Girl to and from school every day. We did test drives on the Friday and Sunday before she started school so that I would know the way and the conditions of the road.
It takes about 35 minutes to get her to the school if the traffic is good and there are no new major potholes. The roads are constantly being repaired and new potholes being created when it rains (which is every day at the moment – wet season) so conditions vary daily. But it hasn’t been as hair raising as I thought. I think the traffic looks worse when you are a passenger…
Gorgeous Girl is loving her new school. She is in the transition pre-school and so is learning to write letters and numbers. She was very excited to go to school today, because on Fridays her class has Music, Sport and Swimming. She loves the water and has had her swimming togs and towel in the car since she heard about swimming classes on Monday.
And because this is a craft blog. Here is a picture of a bag I made for a good friend. It is handspun by me from a Nurturing Fibres batt.

Details here.

Gorgeous Girl is so cute in that uniform. Love it.
By the way, I would love to be your taxi-driver. Would really like to check-out those roads.
Enjoy your weekend! Happy crafting.
Such a cutie! The school uniforms are cute – generally in the states school uniforms are navy blue and khaki. The bright blue with the rainbow collar is so much happier!
GG looks so adorable in her uniform, which is such a bright happy colour. Reminds me of my daughter’s girl guide uniform. And how cute is it that her bag is almost as big as she is? The hat looks so nice and shady. And she gets to wear cool clogs to school?
Have a happy time at school GG!
Love the school uniform!
Gorgeous Girl looks so cute and happy.
Hi Ruth Gorgeous Girl is so sweet and it’s wonderful that she so wants to go to school. My granddaughter is the same and missed starting full time school by a few days. Had her 1st birthday been at beginning of September she would have been two thirds of the way through Reception ( that’s the first year of proper fulltime school here in uk) my grandson who was 4 at beginning of August started last September. My GD will be one of the eldest in her class when she starts.
Glad that the driving was not as bad as you’d feared. Are you still in temporary accommodation?
Anne x
Hi Helen,
I think we got lucky with the school because it is preschool and they split the kids into older and younger age groups. She should start Prep next year with the others her age, being in the transition class just gives her a bit of a headstart for prep and keeps her challenged.
We finally moved out of temporary accommodation on Sunday. It’s nice to be in our own place and have our own room and a couch to sit on. It will be even nicer when our container of furniture arrives and I have my own things.
I did splurge and buy a new set of pots on the weekend as I couldn’t bear to cook with the pots they had (very thin base on a gas stove meant I was constantly burning stuff). We needed a new set anyway, so I don’t feel too bad about buying something that is on it’s way to us.
Have a great day.
Ruth

Hooray that you’re in your own place now! Even without your own “stuff”, you’ll begin to settle in. Have fun making it “home”!

Seems like you have found the right level for GG. Hope she continues to love it – suspect she will! All the best
Gorgeous Girl looks adorable in her uniform. I hope she will fit in and enjoy school. I hated being the new kid in class.
Glad to know things are starting to settle. Best of luck!
