So there’s been a paucity of posts since there’s been a paucity of crafting going on. I have decided to put all other projects aside and just focus on the African animal quilt, or, as it’s rapidly becoming known, ‘that damn thing’.
I’ve calculated that I have 21 blocks left. If I can turn over an average of one block every two days then I will have it finished by the end of May. Which (assuming I’m not turfed out of the guild by then) means that I can show it at the guild meeting in June. We meet on the first Monday of the month.
I may resort to giving you block by block updates…
Winter has struck last night it was 5 degrees C (about 20F) and today is 15 C (about 45) and raining. It might be time to light up the fire – must get a load of wood and an axe first.
My mil is off to China tomorrow for two months (teaching English in Taiyuan) and so Gorgeous Girl’s care arrangements while I’m teaching will revert to spending time on the floor in Gorgeous Man’s office.
Speaking of Gorgeous Girl she got her first taste of solids today – pureed stewed apple. She was not impressed. She didn’t cry, but she wasn’t particularly happy. We’ll try again tomorrow.
Tomorrow is our guild meeting – the first one since the complaint was made about the baby, so we’ll see how it goes. The guild president is fully supportive of my continuing presence with Gorgeous Girl, but I really don’t want to spoil the quilting experience for the rest of the ladies. Mind you I still maintain that their mobile phones make more disturbance than my child.
Anyway, I’ll be back tomorrow with some updates of the quilt and if Gorgeous Girl is behaving herself, there may even be some pictures from guild show and tell.
