We’ve been doing a fair bit of driving to get to all the appointments and things that we need to do, so I’ve been knitting in the car.
I finished this little cardigan. It’s been posted to charity.
Earlier this week I was in a fabric store finding quilting thread for a quilt in progress (I have to plan in advance so brought the blocks with me to match). Gorgeous Girl asked if she could make another quilt. So we discussed what pattern she wants to make – she said squares and rectangles. I immediately thought of one of Kate’s latest finishes.Ā We won’t be making one this big though… I told Gorgeous Girl she could pick two patterns and one plain fabric (we will also dig through the stash once we’re home to see what else will work). She created quite a stir wandering around choosing her fabric.
This was her selection in the end.
Not necessarily the colours I would have chosen, but it’s not my quilt. I will do the cutting for her, (because as talented as she is, 5 year olds don’t get to play with rotary cutters) and she will do the piecing. She does know that she needs to finish her first quilt before starting a new one š I’m all for starting good habits young.
Ooh, can’t wait to see the progress. And I’m impressed to see you developing good habits with her. Wonder if you could do the same for me – I suspect it’s a little late – I’m a lost cause!
It’s so cool that GG is sewing quilts!!!! I like her colour combo, very fresh and bright, definitely for a happy kid’s quilt. I’m all for good habits, haha especially for kids! Wish I could say the same for myself š¦
I like GG’s choices. I am very impressed with her wanting to make another quilt. Have to say I wish someone had taught me to finish one project before starting the next š I’m dreadful at finishing. It’s one of my aims for this year!! My gorgeous granddaughters visited this afternoon after school and have been drawing and stamping – they each collected a very late to arrive christmas present today from Grandma and Gramps ( late delivering from Mr Amazon) I think though that they probably enjoyed it them more without the distractions of all the other presents they had at Christmas.
The little cardigan is sweet – it reminds me of a pattern I used – it was knitted from top down on circular needles.
Today I posted some knitteds to Ladysmith, SA that my knitting group had made. Was stunned at cost of postage. we will need to think carefully about what we knit – sad that we might not be able to do more for this particular cause.
Take care Anne x
I wish *I* had good habits like that š
I love the fabric she picked–and you are letting her start a stash of her own! Fabulous!
